What does having a positive mindset mean?
A positive mindset is approaching life and its challenges with an optimistic, yet realistic, outlook. Noticing the bright side, but not ignoring the difficult side.
Why is it so important?
Thinking positively leads to more happiness. Happiness should NOT come from external things. It should come from inside you.
A positive mindset also increases motivation!!! One of the most common struggles I hear is a lack of motivation. It tends to wear off as quickly as a warm bath.
To organically influence your motivation, focus on a positive mindset. You will naturally feel more motivated!
Advantages of positive thinking
In addition to more happiness and motivation,
positive thinking improves your health. It has been shown to reduce cardiovascular disease and incidence and improve the immune system and disease-fighting capabilities. Positive thinking lowers stress, anxiety, and depression.
It improves your overall mental health.
Improves your relationships.
A positive mindset changes you, and that affects your ability to navigate through difficult situations.
How can you cultivate more positive thinking?
Eliminate Self Talk. If a negative thought about yourself enters your mind, immediately replace it with a better one. Ex. Replace – “I don’t know the right people” with “I am great at creating new relationships. and networking”.
Replace. -“I don’t have the money for that” with, “My investments always come back to me 10x”.
Gratitude Practice – You cannot be grateful and think negatively at the same time. How cool is that???? Start your day by writing down 3 things you are grateful for. This is a practice you can do as many times in a day as you need to if you find yourself feeling anxious, worried or noticing negative thoughts creeping back in.
Practice Self Care – When you look good and feel good, you think better and do better. Prioritize sleep, working out, healthy meals, laughter, wardobe, grooming and hair/makeup.
Get in Nature – nature awakens our senses and provides clarity. Studies have proven that people who have a close connection to nature are happier from the inside and indulge in better thinking.
Remember you are human!! This takes practice. You will have good days and bad days! Give yourself grace on your journey to having a more positive mindset.
You are doing great!
